The letter is significant as evidence of the early interest of SVK in the natural sciences. SVK has purchased a microscope and writes her cousin of her enthusiasm for investigating the cells of lowers and blood of a calf.------Sofia enthusiastically relates her work with her first microscope.

The circle of friends in which she moved and from whom she received support included many young people who were to become leaders in science, law and literature, and politics.
